21-z3-ultra-hammered-china.ashx.jpgThe start of 2011 saw a very exciting NAAM show and industry favourites Zildjian have unveiled a wealth of new equipment and accessories for drums and drummers alike.

Perhaps one of the most exciting stories we can relay to you is the unveiling of the new Gen16 Acoustic Electric Cymbal. Details on the design are somewhat scarce at present however it is set to revolutionise the notion of electric cymbals. The new Zildjian design features the capability to reproduce a very wide variety of different sounds and many are heralding it as potentially doing for drumming what the electric guitar did for guitarists. "The Acoustic Electric Cymbal is capable of creating a wide range of sounds, from that of a classic Zildjian cymbal to some very non-traditional sounds," explained Zildjian's VP of New Business & Product Development, John Roderick. "For drummers, it will have an inspirational impact akin to what the acoustic electric guitar has done for guitarists."

Zildjian have also released a pair of new Z3 Ultra Hammered Chinas in 19 and 21 inches. These both boast inverted volcano bells and stunning hammered detail that sound surprisingly different to their existing 18 and 20 inch models. You can see the new models in use by clicking here . There is also a new 22" Swish Knocker that boasts a much more gentle clash and features less curving on the cup. You can see a sneak peak of this in use by clicking here.

With regards to other equipment a whole slew of new specialist drumsticks are being released in 2011 by Zildjian, these are for the most part longer than their traditional sticks and feature a choice or wood or nylon tips. The Dennis Chambers signature drumstick is also being released in 2011, it features a mini nylon rounded tip and a black finish, completed in 100% hickory.
